A WET PLATE COLLODION PHOTOGRAPHER
After hitchhiking all over the world, goat herding in the Anatolian mountains and dabbling in jazz music, Czech artist Tomas Hetmanek turned to large-format photography. He uses a 19th-century technique called wet plate collodion to create striking contemporary portraits. This solo exhibition at Halka Sanat draws out the inherent dreaminess of this rare photographic process to capture the projections of each subject’s personality, both the known and the unknown.
