AN UPDATE OF THE SYMBOLS

José Luis Muñoz: “My biggest influences are Symbolism and Renaissance painting, but, both aesthetically and conceptually, I enjoy mixing media with comic illustration and film that I enjoy so much. In compositions I seek an update on the universal symbols of mythology or classical literature, from a contemporary perspective. Technically, I start with a detailed drawing to which I gradually add colour with fine layers, first with tempera and acrylic and then with alkyd resin and oil.”
